Fibre Packaging Europe has released a further 2 Position Papers concerning the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive, with the draft of this regulation due to be released in July.

To remind you, Fibre Packaging Europe is an informal coalition of 7 fibre packaging associations (I am the coalition Chair representing ECMA), jointly funded with a core focus to defend, advocate, and raise awareness of the positive impacts of fibre-based packaging whilst challenging restrictive legislation. The coalition represents around 1500 companies, over 2200 manufacturing plants, employing more than 365,000 people across Europe with an annual turnover of around EUR 120 billion.

The new Position Papers (click on links below) cover the following areas of the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive:

  1. Recycling targets & recycled content
  2. Single-use versus reusable packaging

The Papers whilst raising awareness of our position are also used in our Outreach programme, where we are meeting directly with members of the European Commission to advocate on behalf of our sector – by representing a wide sector of the European fibre packaging industry, we can get meetings with cabinet-level members of the Commission.

Fibre Packaging Europe is currently drafting more Position Papers concerning the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive, which will be released shortly.
