4evergreen, established in 2019, is a cross-industry alliance with the goal of optimizing fibre-based packaging circularity and climate performance….over 60 companies have come together (including 11 ECMA members ) in the 4evergreen alliance with a shared purpose and common goal. Importantly, the alliance is supported by Virginijus Sinkevičius (European Commissioner of the Environment) who has endorsed the research being conducted by the alliance, as it is in line with the Commission's European Green Deal.
According to McKinsey, in 2019 fibre-based packaging represented 38% of all packaging brought to market in Europe...as the industry value chain, 4evergreen is focussed on contributing to a climate-neutral society by perfecting the circularity of fibre based packaging products...accordingly the 4evergreen alliance has set the objective of raising the overall recycling rate of fibre based packaging to 90% by 2030.
