Acquisition of Clondalkin specialist packaging divison by Essentra

Nick Mockett, Moorgate Capital commented: With Essentra’s acquisition of Contego Healthcare Packaging the obvious next step was Clondalkin, which had been owned by the private equity house Warburg Pincus for 10 years. There is a clear fit with the two businesses in terms of products and a mix of overlapping and complementary countries. This is the latest in a series of mergers and acquisitions in the pharmaceutical packaging industry which have seen Carlyle acquire Chesapeake and Sullivan Street Partners acquire Medica earlier this month.
