EFI Drupa News

The new version 4.0 of the EFI Packaging Suite, featuring Radius® ERP software, being launched at drupa features a new, advanced estimating and job planning component specifically for folding carton production. The new enhancement has an intuitive, easy-to-use, browser based interface for fast, accurate and consistent folding carton estimates regardless of the user’s experience level. The new planning and estimating component for folding carton production helps users achieve smart, automated production planning using the most cost-efficient job path.

Additional improvements in the Suite include workflow enhancements for film extrusion and flexible packaging converting, and a new workbench feature that helps users be more efficient by providing a simplified view of information and tasks based on a user’s specific job function. Plus, the Suite now offers upgraded shop-floor data analytics technologies for tracking inventory, work-in-process and completed output.

In addition to the Packaging Suite update, drupa is also the worldwide launch point for a new Corrugated Packaging Suite of MIS/Manufacturing Execution Systems technology.

New inkjet digital print platform for packaging
Digital print technologies being premiered at drupa by EFI will include new superwide-format inkjet offerings, including an advanced new print platform for packaging and a new aqueous UV ink. EFI will also showcase the most advanced EFI Fiery® digital front end platform to date for digital print production.

EFI’s new inkjet packaging printing technology incorporates many of the technical advancements in its inkjet portfolio, including single-pass industrial imaging of EFI Cretaprint™ ceramic tile printers, high-quality and versatility available with EFI VUTEk® printers and integrated, in-line finishing similar to technologies available today with EFI Jetrion® narrow-web inkjet presses.

Value for users will be an important factor with the technology, with EFI executives developing its offering with the aim of it being more affordable than other competing new platforms for digital packaging production.

New Fiery technology at drupa includes an extremely fast front-end platform designed to drive the new generation of high-speed, high-quality inkjet presses, including the new Landa press exhibited next door to EFI’s stand, and Xerox’s new Trivor 2400 inkjet press.

The new technologies from EFI are just the beginning of how print providers can create profitable “Imaging of Things” opportunities, delivering greater product customisation and appeal in everything from signage and packaging to décor, apparel and industrial manufacturing.
