ECMA Seminar; the Changing World of Business Intelligence

There’s a growing demand for business information and trends. We all want to know: how does my business perform compared to the rest of the market? ECMA helps its members to focus on their business by providing frequently updated and easily accessible data.

At the ECMA Seminar ECMA informed its members about the latest trends in the global cartonboard production, an updated outlook on the sales trends of cartons across Europe, the growing importance of web retail and convenience packaging, and the ever important issues around food safety.

The presentations were delivered by Gleb Sinavskis (RISI), Neil Osment (NOA) and Jan Cardon (ECMA).  

European Cartonboard Production in a Global Perspective
Gleb Sinavskis, Associate Economist Paper Packaging at RISI, presented an overview of the global markets followed by a further explanation of the European situation and a cost competitiveness analysis.

Downstream change and the implications on European Carton Prospects
Neil Osment, Managing Director NOA-PRISM, presented a 5 year forecast for the European folding carton industry, and a 10 year forecast concerning the changing dynamics in retailing, the downstream change, and the impact it will have on packaging.

The Carton Food Safety Journey: where do we stand?
ECMA Technical Advisor Jan Cardon presented an overview of everything the folding carton industry has done to secure food safety.
